These are printed branding labels finished with a clear polyurethane resin dome. Resin selection and adhesive selection solve different problems: the dome protects the printed face, while the adhesive holds the label to your product.
- Identify the substrate and finish: smooth metal, painted or powder-coated surfaces, and plastics may need different adhesive choices.
- Describe the expected sunlight, moisture, cleaning products, and temperature exposure when requesting an application review.
- For specification-controlled equipment, validate a sample on the actual surface before approving a production run.

What are polyurethane labels?
Polyurethane labels are printed labels sealed under a raised layer of clear two-part polyurethane resin. The dome magnifies the artwork into a glossy, three-dimensional surface and encapsulates the print so it is waterproof, UV-stable and abrasion-resistant. They are also called polyurethane dome labels or resin domed labels.
Are polyurethane labels better than epoxy dome labels?
For most outdoor and long-life uses, yes. Epoxy is cheaper but ambers (yellows) under UV and turns brittle over time, so it hairline-cracks on flexing surfaces. Polyurethane resin stays optically clear and keeps a slight elasticity, so it absorbs impact and bonds to curved parts without cracking. If the label lives outside or on equipment, polyurethane is the durable choice.
Are polyurethane labels waterproof and suitable for outdoors?
Yes. The print is fully encapsulated under the polyurethane dome, so water, humidity and wash-down cannot reach the ink. The resin is UV-stabilized and rated from -40°F to 180°F, which makes these labels standard for equipment, vehicles, marine and other outdoor branding.
